Nomad Network enables you to build private, resilient communication platforms with complete ownership and control. No signups, agreements, data handover, or gatekeepers required.
Built on LXMF and Reticulum, Nomad Network provides cryptographic mesh functionality and peer-to-peer message routing across diverse communication mediums—from packet radio to fiber optics. It operates entirely without internet connectivity, IP networks, or Ethernet requirements. You can run it over packet radio, LoRa, serial lines, or bridge networks over the internet as needed. The system is efficient enough to function on extremely low-bandwidth links, including 300bps radio connections.
Key capabilities include:
Installation is straightforward via pip or pipx, with Docker support available. Android users can install through Termux. The program includes a comprehensive guide section for new users. To get started with packet radio or LoRa, configure your Reticulum installation with relevant TNCs or LoRa devices. For testing without physical hardware, connect to the Unsigned.io RNS Testnet over the internet.
The platform is highly extensible, with community-provided tools including forums, forecasting applications, blog systems, and various LXMF utilities available to enhance functionality.
