Alacritty

Alacritty is a fast, no-frills terminal emulator. It renders every frame on the GPU, has no tabs, no splits, and a minimal TOML config — relying on tmux / zellij for multiplexing.

Design

Alacritty's thesis: do one thing (draw glyphs fast) and leave multiplexing to purpose-built tools. The config is a single alacritty.toml with live-reload, and the rendering stack is OpenGL on desktop plus Metal / DirectX on macOS / Windows.

Install

Brew
$ brew install --cask alacritty
